BASIC TERMINOLOGY

We speak a mixture of local language and Japanese/Okinawan while teaching Goju Ryu. We believe it is important to maintain the traditional dojo terminology to connect to our roots, and maintain a deeper understanding of the techniques we practice. Learning the terminology enables students to train with other Goju practitioners (plus various other styles) anywhere in the world, without limitation of local language. This way, we share a common language for techniques and training methodology. Below are a list of the most frequently used words in our association.
