Goju Ryu Kyokai founders are 5th generation traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate-do practitioners.
*Also called Ryukyu kenpō Toudi-Jutsu. The original Chinese characters for Toudi (Tang hand/China hand) shown below on the left, could also be read as 'karate'. The characters were officially changed to 'Karate' shown below on the right when the newly structured 'Japanese Karate-do' system was introduced into the Dai Nippon Butokai in 1936.
